Solo una roccia!
Questo è quello che la NASA ed in particolare gli scienziati del JPL(Jet Propulsion Laboratory) hanno dichiarato chiarendo finalmente il mistero di "Yep".
La strana roccia è stata osservate l'8 gennaio, in un luogo dove non c'era nulla  appena due settimane prima, aveva una somiglianza con una ciambella gelatina. Soprannominata "Pinnacle Island" dagli scienziati della NASA, e larga solo circa 1,5 pollici, la "ciambella" ha scatenato, sopratutto sul Web una serie di ipotesi tra le più disparate ,arrivando a far pensare a qualcuno, che si fosse trovata una forma di vita!
I ricercatori della NASA , attraverso Ray Arvidson della Washington University di St. Louis hanno rivelato che l'oggetto non è altro che una roccia che si è staccata al passaggio del Rover e questo è stato constatato da evidenze fotografiche riprese in seguito ( vedi foto n.d.r.)
Aggiungono inoltre gli scienziati che "Una volta che oppotunity si è spostato a breve distanza, dopo aver ispezionato Pinnacle Island, abbiamo potuto vedere in salita direttamente una roccia rovesciata che ha lo stesso aspetto insolito". Anche se molti rimarranno delusi da questa affermazione,i ricercatori lasciano comunque una porta aperta per gli amanti del mistero , hanno infatti dichiarato che l'esame di "Pinnacle Island" ha  rivelato alti livelli di elementi come il manganese e zolfo, suggerendo che questi ingredienti idrosolubili sono stati concentrati nella roccia dall'azione dell'acqua.

Only a rock!
This is what NASA and especially the scientists at JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory ) said they finally clarifying the mystery of " Yep ."
The strange rock was observed on January 8th , in a place where there was nothing just two weeks before, he had an uncanny resemblance to a jelly donut . Nicknamed "Pinnacle Island" by NASA scientists , and only about 1.5 inches wide , the " donut " has sparked , especially on the Web a series of assumptions among the most diverse , coming to make you think of someone who had found a form of life !
Researchers from NASA, through Ray Arvidson of Washington University in St. Louis have revealed that the object is nothing more than a rock that fell off the passage of the Rover and this was noted by photographic evidence taken as a result (see photo ed )
Scientists also added that "Once that oppotunity has moved a short distance , after inspecting Pinnacle Island, we could see a rock directly upward kick which has the same look unusual." Although many will be disappointed by this statement , researchers still leave an open door for lovers of mystery , they declared that the examination of "Pinnacle Island" has revealed high levels of elements such as manganese and sulfur , suggesting that these ingredients water-soluble were concentrated in the rock by the water .
