USA: INCENDIO IN DEPOSITO SCORIE NUCLEARI / FIRE IN NUCLEAR WASTE STORAGE

Carlsbad - squadre di emergenza stanno combattendo un incendio nel sotterraneo di un deposito di scorie nucleari del governo degli Stati Uniti. I funzionari dicono che un camion che trasporta sale , mercoledì mattina , ha preso fuoco presso il Waste Isolation Pilot Plant in New Mexico. Secondo un comunicato stampa di un portavoce che ha risposto alla linea di emergenza, tutti i dipendenti sono stati evacuati e nessuno dei rifiuti radioattivi è stato colpito. Ma un comunicato stampa dice "più dipendenti" sono stati portati in un ospedale per potenziale inalazione di fumo. I funzionari di emergenza dicono che tutte le operazioni di movimentazione delle scorie sono sospese e le squadre di soccorso sono state attivate. Il magazzino raccoglie i  rifiuti contaminati da plutonio come abbigliamento, utensili e altri detriti dal Los Alamos National Laboratory e altri progetti di difesa. I rifiuti sono poi sepolti in stanze ricavate in sale sotterranee. L'impianto del New Mexico riceve 17-19 spedizioni evadere da siti di tutto il paese, tra Los Alamos e impianti in Idaho, Illinois e South Carolina.

Carlsbad - emergency crews are battling a fire in an underground repository for nuclear waste in the United States government . Officials say a truck carrying salt, Wednesday morning , caught fire at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant in New Mexico. According to a press spokesman who responded to the emergency line , all employees were evacuated and no radioactive waste has been affected. But a press release says, " most employees " were taken to a hospital for smoke inhalation potential . Emergency officials say that all waste handling operations are suspended and rescue teams have been activated . The warehouse collects waste contaminated with plutonium as clothing , tools and other debris from the Los Alamos National Laboratory and other defense projects . The waste is then buried in four rooms in the underground halls . The installation of New Mexico receives shipments 17-19 escape from sites across the country , including Los Alamos and plants in Idaho, Illinois and South Carolina .
