Almeno 18 persone sono state uccise in Argentina quando un autobus si è schiantato contro un autocarro che guidava sul lato contromano dell'autostrada.L'incidente è accaduto mentre l'autobus si avvicinava alla città occidentale di Mendoza. Relazioni locali dicono che il camion, che aveva una targa brasiliana, è stato rubato ed era guidato ad alta velocità. Il conducente di un'altra auto ha registrato un filmato che mostra il camion che guida sulla carreggiata sbagliata per almeno 7 minuti prima della collisione. La maggior parte delle vittime, tra cui l'autista del bus,sono morti quando l'autobus e il camion hanno preso fuoco al momento dell'impatto. I testimoni dicono che alcuni passeggeri nel disperato tentativo di sfuggire alle fiamme, sono saltati fuori dai finestrini del veicolo. Trenta persone viaggiavano sul bus, le autorità hanno dichiarato. Era partito dalla città di Cordoba, 660 km (410 miglia) a nord est di Mendoza.

At least 18 people have been killed in Argentina when a bus crashed into a lorry driving on the wrong side of the motorway. The crash happened as the bus approached the western city of Mendoza. Local reports say the truck, which had a Brazilian licence plate, was stolen and being driven at high speed. Footage recorded by a driver shows the lorry driving on the wrong carriageway of the Number 7 national road minutes before the collision. Most of the victims, including the bus driver, died as the bus and the lorry burst into flames on impact. Witnesses say some passengers made desperate attempts to escape the flames, jumping off the vehicle's windows. Thirty people were travelling on the bus, the authorities said. It had departed from the city of Cordoba, some 660km (410 miles) northeast of Mendoza.
