L'asteroide 2000 EM26, pericolo scampato( video) - Asteroid 2000 EM26, escaped danger (video)

L'asteroide 2000 EM26 misura circa 270 metri di diametro,come 3 campi da calcio e attraversa il sistema solare ad una velocità di 44.000 chilometri all’ora e passerà  a 8.8 volte la distanza della terra dalla Luna.. Anche se non è stato definito un "Near Earth Object", NEO per gli amanti degli acronimi , incute parecchio timore a chi non conosce bene questa materia.  

Il rischio di colpire il nostro pianeta,è nullo , ma è comunque seguito dal sito del JPL (Jet Propulsory Laboratory, CALTECH, California), dove si può osservare l’animazione del suo transito o in streaming video attraverso la Slooh Space Camera, che comincerà a trasmettere alle 2 antimeridiane del 18 febbraio. 

 Oggetti del genere non sono frequentissimi, l'ultimo è apparso nei nostri cieli giusto un anno fa, quello esploso su celi di Chelyabinsk, in Russia, che ha danneggiato interi edifici e ferito un migliaio di persone pur essendo molto più piccolo, circa un quarto di questo. Tutto ciò genera sicuramente timore che prima o poi un oggetto del genere possa abbattersi su una città e proprio per questo è da tempo esiste una rete d’osservazione spaziale che traccia i meteoriti di maggiori dimensioni in modo da avere il tempo per reagire alla minaccia prima che sia troppo tardi.......
