Allarme radiazioni a long island (rischio basso) - Radiation alarm on Long Island (low risk)

 Lunedì 17 marzo 2014 23.23 18 marzo 2014 - il Tracking Center per le emergenze nucleari ha emesso un avviso di radiazione per Mattituck, NY a Long Island dopo che, il 14 marzo,livelli di radiazione di fondo  hanno raggiunto punte 156 volte superiore al normale , ma rapidamente si è tornati alla normalità. Il 16 marzo,si sono riscontrate nuovamente livelli di radiazioni 75 volte superiori al normale , in questo momento il livello rimane 13 volte superiore ai previsti. Mattituck, NY, è una comunità piccola all'estremità orientale di Long Island e la fonte di radiazioni gamma rilevate è tuttora sconosciuta. Stranamente, il livello di radiazione e salito e sceso molto velocemente, fino alle 20:40 del giorno dopo, il 16 marzo, quando il livello improvvisamente è risalito nuovamente.
