Pesanti piogge e inondazioni hanno colpito la Bosnia e la Serbia questa settimana, uccidendo tre persone, tagliando l'elettricità e lasciando diverse città e villaggi isolati.  Il paese ha dichiarato lo stato di emergenza in 18 città, compresa la capitale, Belgrado. Il primo ministro Aleksandar Vucic ha detto Giovedi che
 avrebbe dichiarato una situazione di emergenza in tutto il paese. "Questo è il più grande disastro alluvionale mai avuto in questa regioner e non solo negli ultimi 100 anni. Ciò non è mai accaduto nella storia della Serbia", ha detto Vucic  in una conferenza stampa."E' caduta più pioggia in un giorno che in quattro mesi." Il ministro dell'Energia serbo Aleksandar Antic ha detto che l'energia è stata tagliata a circa 100.000 famiglie, soprattutto nella Serbia centrale. La Compagnia elettrica della Serbia, Elektroprivreda Srbije, ha detto di aver mobilitato le squadre di emergenza per monitorare la situazione sul campo. Secondo la società le inondazioni hanno interrotto la produzione in due miniere di carbone che riforniscono grandi impianti termici.

The heaviest rains and floods in the past 120 years hit Bosnia and Serbia this week, killing three people, cutting off electricity and leaving several towns and villages  isolated. The three casualties, one of them a firefighter on a rescue mission, drowned in Serbia. The country declared a state of emergency in 18 towns and cities, including the capital, Belgrade. Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said on Thursday he would declare an emergency for the whole country at 1100 GMT. "This is the greatest flooding
disaster ever. Not only in the past 100 years; this has never happened in Serbia's history," Vucic told a news conference. "More rain fell in one day than in four months. " Serbian Energy Minister Aleksandar Antic said power supplies were cut to around 100,000 households, mostly in central Serbia. Serbia's power company, Elektroprivreda Srbije, said it had mobilized teams to monitor the situation on the ground. Flooding had disrupted production in two coal mines supplying major thermal plants, the company said.
