Viaggio nel tempo: Teorie, Paradossi. - Time Travel: Theories, Paradoxes.

---English Version---
Time travel may be theoretically possible, but it is beyond our current technological capabilities .
Over the years we have been accustomed from novels , movies or the TV series , to see people moving in time. The reality, however , is less clear. Not all scientists believe that it is possible to travel in time. Some even say that an attempt would be fatal to any human being who chooses to undertake it . First things first , what is the time?
While most people think of time as a constant , the physicist Albert Einstein showed that time is an illusion ; is relative, can vary according to the observer and depending on the speed at which it moves through space . For Einstein , time is of the " fourth dimension ", which , although conventionally moves only forward, in fact, according to new theories, may also scroll in the opposite direction ! Most physicists believe that time is a subjective illusion , but
the special theory of relativity Einstein said that time slows down or speeds up depending on how fast you are moving with respect to something else. Approaching the speed of light, a person inside a spaceship , it would be aged much slower than his twin brother at home. In addition, in the context of Einstein's general theory of relatiità , gravity can bend time . Imagine a four-dimensional fabric called space-time. When everything has mass rests
on this tissue , it causes a decrease of space-time . The bending of space-time , generates a curved path in the movement of objects, and this curvature of space is what we know as gravity. General relativity also includes scenarios that may allow travelers to go back in time, according to NASA . The equations , however, may be difficult to play physically. One possibility would be to go faster than light , which travels at 186,282 miles per second ( 299,792 kilometers per second) in a vacuum. The Einstein equations , however , show that an object to the speed of light should have infinite mass that is a length of 0 . This seems to be physically impossible ...
One possibility , as NASA said , would be to create " wormholes " between points in space-time . Einstein's equations predict a rapid collapse of the " tunnel " and that would be suitable only for very small particles . In addition, scientists still have not actually seen these wormholes . The technology needed to create a wormhole is well beyond anything that we can produce today . While Einstein's theories seem to make the difficult journey back in time , some groups
have proposed alternative solutions to jump back and forth in time. The astronomer Frank Tipler has proposed a mechanism (also known as Tipler cylinder ) , that the same Tipler describes it this way " An explorer could start his journey in an area that has weak field - maybe close to Earth - to get up the region where the light cones are tilted , navigate in the negative direction of time, and then go back to where it started, without ever leaving the region bounded by its future light cone . If this explorer to travel far enough in the direction t while is located in the region where the field is intense , you may return to Earth before the date of departure and go into the past of our planet to where he wanted. a true time travel . " You might as well get a " closed time-like curve ." Another possibility would be to move a ship quickly around a black hole, or to artificially create such a condition with a huge, rotating structure . According to Stephen Hawking : " Imagine turning around the black hole for five years. Ten years would pass elsewhere. Another theory for potential time travelers involves something called cosmic strings - narrow tubes of energy that span the entire length of ' ever-expanding universe . these thin regions , believed to contain huge amounts of mass and therefore could warp space-time around them. scientists believe that cosmic strings are both endless loop , without end . approach of two such strings parallel to each other would give the space - time a particular configuration that might make time travel possible , in theory. it is generally believed that to move forward or backward in time would require a device - a time machine . Nowadays those who do research on the time machine is often based on theories related to the curvature of space-time and the use of lines
time closed -loop , technically known as " closed time-like curves . " To achieve these loops of time, you think you need an exotic form of matter, the so-called " negative energy density . " Such exotic matter has bizarre properties , including the move in the opposite direction of normal matter , when thrust . This matter could theoretically exist , but if so, it could only be present in quantities too small , insufficient for the construction of a time machine . However, research suggests that time travel time machines are possible without exotic matter . The work starts with a hole in the shape of donut wrapped in a sphere of normal matter . Inside this donut-shaped vacuum , space- time could withdraw into himself using gravitational fields targeted to form a closed time-like curve . To go back in time , a traveler, could run inside the donut , going further back into the past at every turn . This theory has a number of obstacles, however . The gravitational fields necessary to create this hypothetical closed time-like curve should be very strong , and should be a huge precision to manipulate them. In addition to problems in physics, time travel can also create some special situations . A classic example is the grandfather paradox , in which a time traveler goes back and kills his parents or his grandfather or otherwise interferes in their relationship so that he can never be born. If this happens , some physicists believe that this automatically generate a parallel universe where the person in question was never born . Others say that the photons that make up light prefer a "self- consistency " of the timeline , and then , in some way may interfere with your " suicidal plan " .
So is time travel possible ?
Ache today if time travel does not seem possible , at least providing a survival of the " time traveler " , the field is constantly changing . Advances in quantum theories could perhaps provide some understanding of how to overcome the paradoxes of time .
