John Dobson : Morto all'età di 98 anni


L'ex-monaco che ha promosso l'astronomia amatoriale è morto all'età di 98 anni per le complicazioni di un ictus subito pochi anni fa,  il 15 gennaio in un ospedale di Burbank, in California.
 John Dobson, ha sviluppato un potente telescopio economico che quasi chiunque potrebbe costruire e ha mostrato a migliaia di persone nel corso di 50 anni , attraverso dei corsi , come produrre da soli questo tipo di strumento .
Chiamato il "Johnny Appleseed dell'astronomia amatoriale,"Dobson ha iniziato come amatore negli anni '50, e dopo aver lasciato i suoi abiti da monaco è diventato uno scienziato itinerante ed ha sviluppato la sua passione per l'astronomia amatoriale.Ha usato materiali di basso costo  o di recupero come oblò della nave e tubi di cartone per fare i suoi telescopi. Il suo progetto alla fine è stato abbracciato dai produttori commerciali, che pubblicizzano i telescopi come "Dobson".
Mr. Dobson è nato 14 Settembre 1915, a Pechino. Sua madre era una musicista e suo padre ha insegnato zoologia all'Università di Pechino. A causa per disordini politici in Cina, la sua famiglia si trasferisce a San Francisco nel 1927. Ha conseguito una laurea in chimica presso l'Università di Berkeley in California,nel 1943 e andò a lavorare nel settore della difesa. Dapprima ateo, durante gli studi , scoprì il cammino religioso, fino a diventare monaco. Nel 1944 entrò nel Monastero Vedanta a San Francisco, dal quale usci negli anni '60 per divergenze di opinioni con i monaci. il resto della vita lo trascorse nel segno dell'astronomia amatoriale.

The ex- monaco who promoted the amateur astronomy has died at age 98 from complications of a stroke suffered a few years ago , on January 15 at a hospital in Burbank , California.
 John Dobson, has developed a powerful economical telescope that almost anyone could build and has been shown to thousands of people over the course of 50 years through the courses, how to make yourself this type of instrument.
